August 2009 School of the Month
August 1, 2009 -- Congratulations to Lincoln Elementary School, First National Bank of Talladega's first Cash for the Classroom honoree. With school starting back on August 10th, the faculty and staff are excited about this opportunity to start of the year with a bang and a buck!
Lincoln Elementary School Principal Donna Hudson, Reading Coach Alisa Huffaker and Library Media Specialist Karin Woodruff accept a check for $1,353.53 from Pam Stephens, Lincoln Branch Manager and Chip Moore, Marketing Director at First National Bank of Talladega. The money was raised for the Cash for the Classroom program sponsored by FNB for the by students, faculty and friends of Lincoln Elementary. Additional funds were contributed by the employees and customers of the First National Bank of Talladega. The school plans to use the money to purchase additional books for the library.
The principal has planned a penny drive for the school, so please drop by the school office or any FNB branch and drop your spare change in the Cash for the Classroom donation boxes. Due to the late start, we will accept donations for Lincoln now through September 10th.
Principal Donna Hudson announced in a faculty meeting on August 6th that all money raised would go to purchase more books for the school library. "Our kids love to read, and once they all check out books, there are not many left," said Principal Hudson, "We want to do everything we can to encourage our students to read all types of books. We truly appreciate this money because it will benefit all of the children at Lincoln Elementary School." If you would like to donate your pennies (or any change), drop by the Lincoln Elementary School office or any First National Bank branch and look for the big Cash for the Classroom water cooler jugs. If you would like to keep up with happenings at the LES library, check out their blog.
