October 2009 School of the Month
October 1, 2009 -- Stemley Road Elementary School in the Talladega County School System has been selected for the October School of the Month. The school plans to use the money for incentive prizes in their Accelerated Reading Initiative (ARI) program.

Also pictured are SGA representatives Marlonda Pemberton, Anslea Twymon and Malori Blackmon, CNP workers Sandy Berry and Connie Blizzard and School Reading Coach Susan Ogle.
The ARI program allows students to read at their own pace while challenging them to increase their comprehension and vocabulary. Students are tested after each book, and can earn points to spend in the ARI store, which provides school supplies and other rewards based on the number of points they have earned.
FNB was honored to visit the school during their annual 'Muffins with Mom' and 'Donuts with Dad' social. These visits gave the parents an opportunity to visit the school and see some of the great things going on at Stemley. Check out the FNB Facebook site to see some of the pictures from the school.

Counselor Jennifer Spradley, ARI Reading Coach Susan Ogle, Librarian Mona Worsham and Assistant Principal Audrey Chatman prepare to hang the Cash for the Classroom banner at Stemley Road Elementary School.
