April 2010 School of the Month

April 1, 2010 -- It is no April Fool's joke to the students at Talladega County Central High School... their school has been selected as the April School of the Month and they are ready to raise some money! Principal Vanessa Scott has appointed the school's Beta Clubs to spearhead the fund-raising efforts, and they are already off to a good start working with area churches and businesses that are partners with the school. After wrapping up some previously planned Beta Club trips, the students will be planning a variety of other fundraisers for the month.

Money raised in April will go to purchase supplies for the Science Department at the school. According to Principal Scott, this is one area where additional funds have been lacking. Given the opportunity that science classes have to inspire students, this should be an excellent investment for the school. Science teachers Jaclyn Robinson and Annette Duncan are very excited about the additional funds coming to their department, as it will provide more hands-on opportunities for the students to work with things they often only read about in their classroom literature. The additional tools and materials are certain to be put to good use at the school.
